Professor Innocent Gangaidzo

Professor Gangaidzo is a consultant Gastroenterologist and a member of faculty in the College of Health Sciences, University of Zimbabwe since 1989. He is also the current editor in chief of the Central African Journal of Medicine.

Professor Gangaidzo qualified in medicine from the University of Oxford, UK in 1984. He holds Masters Degrees in Physiological Sciences from the University of Oxford, and in Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics from the University of Newcastle, New South Wales Australia. He also holds a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the University of London and has had specialist training in internal medicine and in gastroenterology in Birmingham and London.

His research interests are gastroenterological and hepatological disease in Africans, particularly African iron overload and colorectal cancer. Professor Gangaidzo has held several grants from international bodies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Professor Gangaidzo is the founding Vice President of ECSACOP and the current President of the College.
