Dr. Banda is a Senior lecturer and Respiratory Physician at University of Malawi (College of Medicine). He graduated from the University of Malawi (College of Medicine) with MBBS in 2003. He finished specialist training in Internal Medicine (as general physician) in 2011 (MW and RSA) and his Pulmonology Fellowship (RSA) in 2017.

He joined the College of Medicine (Medicine department) in 2007, is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and undertakes clinical work in the medical wards and clinics at Queen Elizabeth Central and Teaching Hospital.

He was formerly World Diabetes Foundation Project Lead for the College of Medicine, Co-investigator in ACTG Clinical Trials with Johns Hopkins (Blantyre) and research associate for REALITY clinical trial (Malawi Liverpool Welcome Trust). He serves as an executive member of Malawi College of Physicians.  His main research interest is lung function in Tuberculosis and HIV positive patients.
