Professor Jonathan Matenga
MBChB, MRCP (UK), FRCP(UK), MMed.Sc. Clin Epi (Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics)

Prof. Matenga is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Cardiology in the Department of Medicine (University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences), having been at UZCHS for 35 years.

He was Director of the Clinical Epidemiology Unit at UZCHS which has trained and mentored up to 80 students to diploma and masters level. He was also co-PI of MEPI Zimbabwe cardiovascular linked-award (CHRIS), providing mentorship to CHRIS scholars, with the goal of improving their knowledge base and skills in cardiology and stroke, whilst strengthening their research capacity. He is co-PI for the PERFECT award which is focussing on further training of those ex-CHRIS scholars who joined faculty to now become academics, mentors and independent researchers. The PERFECT project is going to train about 30 members of faculty from various departments. He belongs to important College Committees that deal with teaching and training of both under and post graduates. He has a personal interest in medical education and professional development at a national level. He sits on the Medical and Dental Council of Zimbabwe, the Medical Research Council of Zimbabwe and the IRB for the College Teaching Hospital.
