Prof. Majid Kagimu

MBChB, MMed, PhD, FRCP (London)

Prof. Kagimu is Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of the Postgraduate Programme in the Department of Medicine at Makerere University College of Health Sciences. In this capacity, he cares for patients with Internal Medicine diseases, especially those affecting the liver and gastrointestinal tract.   He teaches gastroenterology and professionalism to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Prof. Kagimu specializes in Internal Medicine with a special interest in gastroenterology and hepatology.  He had his medical training at Makerere University, Khartoum University, University of London and University of Edinburgh. He is a Clinical Examiner for the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. He is the President of the Islamic Medical Association of Uganda.  He received the 50th National Independence Golden Jubilee Medal for outstanding service to Uganda, awarded by the President of Uganda (2016).  It is the highest medal given to civilians in Uganda, for those who have significantly contributed to the development of Uganda since Independence in 1962 by being patriotic and providing outstanding services to the country.
